About Donna Mibus
All designs Copyrighted Donna Mibus. In a nutshell, I am a: Christian, wife, mother, grandma, dog mom, avid learner of new things, and artist. The artist part came last, well after my two children were grown and I was done with home schooling my grandson. In fact, I didn't start painting until I turned 50! I've not gone to art school or had formal painting lessons. I remember visiting my local art store, gathering up some various paint brushes, and asking the clerk at the counter, "What's this brush for? And what's this one for?" That was the extent of my "art schooling". A lot of my designs are of mid century modern decor. I greatly enjoyed looking through the Sears and Montgomery Ward catalogs as a child in the 60s. I absolutely loved the modern furniture and accessories, and I knew just the things I wanted to buy when I grew up and had my own apartment. I include all those mid century modern items in my room scenes because I still love them. I've also always loved cats, hence the reason they are in most of my designs. Not too long ago we adopted several dogs and discovered dogs are wonderful, too! My husband and I dote each day on our fur babies. We enjoy taking our travel trailer and camping in beautiful places, especially by the water. I continue to practice playing the violin. Took up playing it when I was nearly 40. I own a 1909 violin that my grandmother played when she was a little girl. And just recently I discovered punch needle rug making and love working with colorful yarn. I think learning new things is FUN! In fact, I recently tried watercolors and love them! They are quite different to work with from the acrylic paints I usually use. I'm blessed to have had my art work featured twice in Atomic Ranch Magazine, first in the Art Picks Page of the Special Design Issue Fall 2016 and later as a featured artist in "The Cat's Meow" article of the Winter 2016 issue. I've also been featured in numerous blogs and websites including Hauspanther, Mad for Mid-Century, Mousebreath and No Pattern Required. My clients include Knott's Berry Farm in California, Stella's Place in Illinois and Bombshell Salon in Virginia. My art will be featured in the soon to be released mini-LP CD This is Vintage Now Volume 2. My designs have been licensed for the making of buttons, rug kits and metal cat statues. And in my Etsy shop you'll find items that I've hand made, such as Christmas ornaments, vinyl decals, magnets and keychains.
