Description
I'm dreaming of Maui. Once you've been there, you'll understand. To me it was paradise. Everything about it was so wonderful. From my condo balcony I could see humpback whales frolicking in the water. I took a boat out to get up close and personal with these whales. Talk about amazing. Took a tiny (and I mean tiny!) plane up and looked down and witnessed hot red lava oozing from a volcano. As it spilled over into the ocean a huge burst of steam rose up. Went snorkeling in the clearest ocean water and saw amazing colorful fish and breathtaking coral. Enjoyed a luau one evening with lively entertainment and great food. We saw double rainbows just about every day. And guess what? There were red Poinsettia plants growing in the ground. IN THE GROUND! Only Poinsettias this Texas girl had ever seen were ones in gold foiled pots at Christmas time!
This watercolor I painted on bright white watercolor paper comes from my love of Maui. Did you know you can see the island of Lanai from Maui? There it is, off in the distance, in front of the lovely full moon. I wish I were lying in that sailboat at this very minute, gazing up at the stars in the inky blue sky while being rocked by the gentle water currents.
