Description
My black cat has traveled to Italy. He has seen many beautiful buildings but this one has him baffled. It's leaning. A lot! The Tower of Pisa is the freestanding bell tower of the cathedral of the city of Pisa. It is known worldwide for its nearly four-degree lean, the result of an unstable foundation. Numerous efforts have been made to restore it to a vertical orientation. Most of these efforts failed, and some worsened the tilt. The tower was closed to the public January of 1990. After a decade of corrective reconstruction and stabilization efforts, the tower was reopened to the public December of 2001. It was declared stable for at least another 300 years. My cat doesn't care what they say. He's keeping his distance, just in case!
