So what's it like participating in a year long Challenge where you have to create a new piece of art each day for an entire year?? Just ask these 22 participants who completed this daunting challenge! We artists at Fine Art America enjoy participating in various fun art Challenges that the site manager and forum moderator Abbie Shores thinks up for us, but this one topped them all. (thank you Abbie!) When she posted about the year long challenge my first reaction was, NO WAY! But it didn't take me long to realize what an amazing adventure it would be, and so I signed up. I grew to admire my fellow artists who joined me in this year long Challenge. There were several who, during the year, submitted their daily piece despite great losses and despite great obstacles. Talk about dedication! We enjoy these challenges both for fun but to self improve. They are not contests, but fun ways to help us improve our artistic skills. Challenges also help us improve our daily habits regarding our art. For this year long challenge we learned perseverance. We learned not to give up when the first attempt (or second or third!) failed. We learned to overcome mental blocks. But through it all the thing I value the most was building a bond with the other participants. I looked forward each day to see what everyone submitted. We cheered each other on. We helped each other with ideas. We gave support whenever someone needed it. I am so thankful I decided to do this year long challenge and I am very grateful to the 21 amazing artists and photographers who encouraged me and helped me throughout this past year.
