Artist's Description
I absolutely love vintage ceramic piggy banks, especially from the 60s and 70s. Here is a bright and happy elephant piggy bank in shades of red, orange and yellow. Don't forget to save for a rainy day! A bit of history... back in the Middle Ages people made bowls and pots out of a clay called Pygg. They would often use one of their small pots for storing their coins in, and so they called it their pygg pot, or pygg / pyggy bank. It was only later on that someone thought to make the shape into a PIG. Today piggy banks come in all sorts of animal shapes and different objects.

Looks more like an elephant bank, but I like it either way!
Donna Mibus replied:
I should add the history of piggy banks to my description. People made pots and stuff out of a clay called Pygg. They would toss their money into one and it came to be called a pygg pot, or pygg / pyggy bank. Wasn't long before someone made them into a Pig shape. :-)

A piggy bank that matches the depositors outfit!
