Artist's Description
I adore Bonsai trees! Bonsai is a fascinating art that combines horticultural techniques and Asian aesthetics in a unique way. The art originated in the Chinese empire and was copied and adapted by the Japanese. Literally translated "bon-sai" means "planted in a container". The ultimate goal of growing a Bonsai is to create a miniaturized but realistic representation of a tree. This is my whimsical version of a Japanese Maple bonsai tree with red, orange and yellow leaves of Fall, in a beautiful jewel green planter.
This painting on bright white watercolor paper was hand painted using watercolors and ink. It was my Day 87 entry in the 100 day challenge I'm participating in at Fineartamerica with other artists. We aim to create one new piece of art a day for 100 consecutive days.
