Description
I enjoy lighthouses. They appear so brave standing there alone on the shore, tall and strong as they fearlessly face the mighty sea. Today most lighthouses are automated, but back in the day each had a keeper, who kept the oil lamps burning brightly. There is a book I loved to read to my children when they were young, titled, Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie. It's a true story. Abbie lived with her family in a lighthouse off the coast of Maine, in the mid 1800s. Her father had to take the boat in for supplies, and while he was gone a great storm came up that lasted a month. That entire time he was gone Abbie kept the oil lamps burning.
I would like to see some lighthouses in person some day. I think they are beautiful. This ink and watercolor painting is inspired by my love of lighthouses.
I am participating in a 7 day Challenge with other artists here on FAA. The theme for the Challenge is to create a piece of artwork with a LIQUID in it, for seven straight days This piece is my Day 2.
